What Needs To Be Done
The total revenue per month from Udemy/PLCDojo is falling, and will most likely continue to fall as the months go by. Will it fall to the point where the revenue does not cover my monthly expenses? I simply do not know.
I do not have direct control of the sales funnel on the Udemy/PLCDojo platforms, and that is a major disadvantage. I do, however, have a small measure of indirect control in the form of the following levers which I have utilized already with some degree of success:
(1) Creation of a new course. Sending out PAs on Udemy to existing students. Sending out individual emails to existing students on PLCDojo.
(2) Updating of course content to generate higher course ratings on more popular courses.
I need to create my own sales funnel, however small it may be. In the first instance, I need to funnel persons to Udemy to use my own coupon codes to get the 97% revenue share. If I funnel to PLCDojo then I will get the $5, so I will start with Udemy to see if I can get more.
Maybe I should start with SunSpec Modbus. A potential audience demand that is currently underserved.
I should complete the updates to the BACnet course which will include a new bonus lecture, intro video and promo video. I can use the opportunity to set a new format and standard for the bonus, intro, promo videos which I will then repeat in other key courses.
That is my strategy. It is one that makes sense in the light of the current reality and trends.
