Just Emile

One Foot in Front of the Other

Right now, this moment, if I decide to eat a hearty snack and start running, I could probably easily do a half-marathon without too much fuss. My body still works.

But my spirit feels so tired. The weekend wore me out. I feel sad, unmotivated, weary, hopeless, scared, anxious and generally like just giving up, like just laying down and dying. What a relief it would be to not know any of this, or feel any of this.

On days like these, I think I know by now what I have to do. Put one foot in front of the other and do so very slowly. Do very little but do something and be proud of it. I think that I need to go to the gym as well.

So Emile, very slowly now, and I mean very very slowly. You don't have to optimize and get it all done in order of priority. Just move slowly. No social media. No doom scrolling. Just slow movement.

Let's go then.
